Walton Sleeps
This series of images was taken in Walton, NY in January and February of 2021 in the very small hours of the morning. My intention was to create a “portrait of a town” and my decision to take the photos in the hours between night and dawn was based on the idea of finding colour in the street and other lighting that isn’t normally present on bleak winter days. I wanted to portray the character of Walton with its mix of beautiful classical architecture behind a modern American “Main Street”; a mix of the well maintained and the sadly neglected, of richer and poorer, of civic and private, of commercial and ecclesiastical. In short, a portrait of a town asleep.
